The California Energy Commission ranks California as the 5th highest consumer of energy in the world. In the next 40 years, California’s population is expected to surge from 37 million to 55 million, and the demand for energy is expected to double. While energy is the backbone of any economy, California’s complex political and regulatory environment make meeting its demand, while also satisfying the popular desires for renewable and alternative sources, a daunting proposition
